FedEx to build new facility, bring jobs to Grayslake 6/28/2010
Grayslake, Illinois (Lake County Journal) - FedEx Ground will build a new distribution center in Grayslake that initially will bring at least 200 new jobs to the area, Lake County officials said.
A 214,000 square-foot facility will be built on Route 83 north of Peterson Road in Grayslake and will employ more than 200 full-time and part-time employees initially, officials said.
The facility is expected to open in late 2011. When operating at full capacity, the workforce is projected to grow to almost 500 people, officials said.
Several local government agencies worked together to enable FedEx to develop the site, offering property tax abatements as an incentive to build in Grayslake, officials said. FedEx Ground also was considering a site in southern Wisconsin for its facility, but ultimately selected Lake County.
