Grayslake, Illinois (Grayslake Review) - FedEx Ground has announced plans to build a new 214,000-square-foot distribution facility in Grayslake, which officials say will employ nearly 500 people and bring other construction-related and trucking jobs to Lake County.

Plans for the proposed FedEx Ground Midwest distribution center were announced during a press conference at the Lake County Central Permit Facility in Libertyville Friday afternoon. Officials from Lake County, the village of Grayslake and FedEx were on hand for the announcement of the proposed facility, which will be located on Illinois Route 83 just north of Peterson Road in the area commonly known as the “Central Range.”

“It's always important to bring jobs into our area,” said Lake County Board Chairman Suzi Schmidt. “We're very excited FedEx has decided to locate here. This is great news for Lake County, especially in these tough economic times.”
